Could Capcom’s highly anticipated Monster Hunter title be headed to the Playstation Vita?
According to Kotaku’s findings, a rumor suggests that Monster Hunter 4 may end up on Nintendo 3DS’ rival, the PS Vita.
The origin of the rumor comes from Game Lab. It seems they have predicted a Vita game before an official announcement in the past, let’s hope we can get a Vita version too.
Kotaku contacted Capcom about this rumor, to which they replied: “Capcom has made no announcements.”
This could go one of two ways: Either the rumor is fake, and there will not be a Vita version, or Capcom are not ready to announce it yet.
So far we know that Capcom have pushed back the release of Monster Hunter 4 to improve the game and make it live up to everybody’s expectations. Who knows, maybe in this window, they’ll have enough time to make a Vita version.
But why would Capcom want to make a Vita version in the first place?
Many of the older Monster Hunter titles have been on PSP, and the series made it’s debut on the Playstation 2 – It’s very familiar with Sony consoles.
Releasing Monster Hunter 4 on the Vita would certainly boost Vita sales in Japan, and even bump the sales worldwide for those who wish to import it (or purchase it locally should the title get localized in their area).
The Nintendo 3DS is also a good choice to release Monster Hunter 4 in Japan. In recent months, mostly due to Animal Crossing Jump Out, 3DS sales have skyrocketed. Many Japanese gamers already own a 3DS, and sales for a new Monster Hunter title would be prove very profitable.
Either way, Capcom will sell a lot of copies.
